80 SQM ATTIC
Milan, IT, 2016
Interior design project for attic floor conversion.
Formerly used as a professional office, the attic floor of this 1970s building is converted in to a residential apartment.
The conversion as a residential apartment for a couple in the early 30s is achieved by minimizing major and minor works
focusing on the interior design by including modern furniture pieces and bespoke elements in neutral colors to balance the overwelming warmness of the wood floor and roof.
At the entrance, a bespoke plasterboard bookcase serve as a room divider, to separate the entrance from the kitchen area, while allowing for some extra storage. The kitchen is designed as a series of simple volumes interplaying with the pitched roof and bespoke divider. The splashback is realized with one piece 3mm Kerlite Panel with resin like surface decoration.
The dining space consist of a 200x80 table in HPL with aluminum legs that seats in between the kitchen and the living area. Hanging just over the table, 4 pendant light bulbs by nordic design firm Muuto create a "lighting divider".
The living space furniture consists of linear aluminum bookcase system. The entertainment system is hidden in a dedicated draw, and simple lacquered cubes contain DVDs and CDs collection leaving room for books and objects on the shelves. A cozy sofa with ottoman seats guests.
The bathroom was lightly remodeled by removing the bathtub and creating a comfortable 120x80 cm shower. Both the shower and the washbasin countertop are decorated with wood textured colored tiles in a random Herringbone pattern.
